The corpse passport is issued by the municipality in whose territory the transport begins. The corpse passport can only be issued if the required documents have been submitted.

The death certificate and, in the case of suspected non-natural death, the burial authorisation in accordance with Section 159 (2) of the Code of Criminal Procedure must be presented. For repatriations abroad, the registry office must have noted on the death certificate that the death has been notarised or that notarisation has been postponed.
